Moniteau County Clerk Roberta Elliott reports nearly 41 percent of the county’s registered voters turned out for the primary election Tuesday, Aug. 4, helping send state candidates on to the November runoff and the same as electing a new presiding commissioner.

Locally, voters choosing the Republican ballot decided the race for presiding commissioner with James Bonecutter, California, defeating Joe Lutz, Tipton, 1,901 to 1,296. There is no Democratic candidate running for the office or for any other county offices in November.

The Mid-Mo Ambulance District was successful in its request for an additional one-half cent sales tax, raising the total to one cent. Doubling the tax revenue was deemed necessary by the district due to rising costs and to maintain an adequate fleet, staffing and equipment necessary to respond to the increase in calls for service in both counties.

Votes in races of interest locally were tallied as follows. All results reported here are unofficial.
