Last chance to reserve Prayer Breakfast seats

Reserved seats remain available for the Tipton Community Prayer Breakfast but only through Friday.

The first prayer breakfast since the COVID-19 pandemic. will be held at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Guest speaker will be Rod Smith, television personality and sports reporter for KRCG-TV 13.

Smith has been covering high school, college and professional sports in Missouri for more than three decades. He was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and the Missouri Basketball Hall of Fame. Known for his feature “Rod’s Big Ol’ Fish!” he’s shared more than 10,000 pictures of viewers with their catches, from deep-sea fishing trips, the Lake of the Ozarks and “Grandpa’s pond.”

In addition to covering local teams and athletes, Smith also has a heart for God and a passion to help local charities. He’s the busiest master of ceremonies in mid-Missouri and enjoys opportunities to speak at local churches and civic organizations.

He and his wife, Lana, have been married for 37 years and have three daughters, Brittany, Brooke and Paige, all of whom played high school and college sports. His newest venture is “Show-Me Sports Magazine,” highlighting mid-Missouri schools, teams and student-athletes, a publication ran by his daughters.
