The deal was arranged to increase participation in center weekday lunches with Shope, the center administrator, pledging to take a pie if 75 diners was reached, and Purvis, board president, raising the odds to 100 diners and accepting a pie. At last count, 118 meals of meat loaf, mashed potatoes and green beans had been served to congregate diners and at that both Shope and Purvis gladly took the pie tins filled with whipped cream!
