The Tipton R-VI School District Board of Education has named Nathan Bestgen as the district's next superintendent.

Bestgen currently serves as superintendent of Clarksburg C-II, a role he has held since 2013. In that capacity, he has overseen district operations and budgeting, supervised certified and classified staff, coordinated building and facility projects, and supported key district programs — including federal programs and special education services.

A Tipton R-VI graduate and longtime educator, Bestgen previously served the district as a middle/high school teacher in history, social studies, and physical education. He brings 21 years in education, including 13 years in the superintendent role.

Bestgen holds an education specialist degree in educational administration and a master of education administration from William Woods University, as well as a bachelor of science in education from Missouri Valley College.

“Tipton is home for me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and its students,” said Bestgen. “As superintendent, I will focus on supporting staff, strengthening partnerships with families and the community, and ensuring every student has access to high-quality learning experiences that prepare them for success.”

Board members worked with the Missouri School Boards' Association to conduct the search.

“Nathan was selected from an exceptional group of candidates, each bringing impressive experience and vision to the process,” said R-VI Board President Bo Helms. “After a thorough and competitive search, we are confident that he is the right leader to guide our district into the future.

“We are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to the positive impact Nathan will have on our students, staff, and community. Under his leadership, we believe the Tipton School District will continue to thrive and achieve new levels of excellence.”

Bestgen will officially begin serving the Tipton R-VI School District on July 1, 2026.
