Tipton R-VI School District voters failed to give an extension of a bond issue that would not raise taxes the required 57.14 percent approval at the polls Tuesday, April 4.
At Tipton, the vote was 238 no to 229 yes. Morgan County voters gave the measure 38 no and 31 yes votes, while in Cooper County the vote was 18 no to 11 yes. The total vote was 294 no to 271 yes.
The marijuana sales tax issue was decided countywide, passing 1,007 votes to 271.
Moniteau County Clerk Roberta Elliott reported a total of 1,305 ballots were cast in Tuesday’s election, 13.74 percent of the county’s 9,497 registered voters.
All results are unofficial until verified by county election authorities.
The school board election provide the only local race among candidates. Three will be seated on the board with five candidates seeking those seats.
Kelly Kohler received 371 votes in Tipton, 53 in Morgan County and 26 in Cooper County for a total of 450.
Amanda Pettigrew polled 286 votes at Tipton, 51 in Morgan County and 17 in Cooper County for a total of 354 votes.
Craig Wolf, the only incumbent running, received 249 votes at Tipton, 46 votes in Morgan County and 16 from voters in Cooper County for a total of 311.
Lora Dicus polled 202 votes at Tipton, 41 votes in Morgan County and 11 votes in Cooper County for a total of 254 votes.
Kimberly Wolf received 151 votes at Tipton, 22 in Morgan County and 8 in Cooper County, totalling 181 votes.
Mark Hampton received 322 votes for mayor of Tipton, running unopposed. He will give up his seat on the county from the west ward to take the mayor’s seat.
Chris Allee will succeed Don Basinger from the east ward on the council, receive 200 votes.
Robert Wolf goes back on the council as the west ward alderman with 149 votes.
