The committee organizing the 2nd annual Tipton Septemberfest is taking signups for various events and putting finishing touches on this year’s festival. It is set for Saturday, Sept. 7.

Several new events are being added this year to replace some that have been taken out of the schedule. A highlight of the day will be the “Hometown Pride” parade which will be held at 9 a.m. and sponsored by the Tipton Chamber of Commerce. A $100 gift card is being offered as the prize for the float best depicting the theme.

Craft and food vendors will line Moniteau Street downtown from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and can still sign up through Aug. 8 although late reservations will not be included in the Septemberfest booklet. The limit of food vendors has been reached.

Musical entertainment from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. downtown will include Clint Miller, Caitie Marie Music and Turner & Company.

The human tractor pull will be held on Osage Avenue at 2 p.m., and the first Presiding Commissioner’s Cup Foot Race will be held at 3 p.m. from Auglaize Avenue to City Hall on Moniteau Street.

The day will also include a shark race, featuring competitors running an obstacle course in shark costume, at 10 a.m. at the Old Presbyterian Church, and a dunk tank with local celebrities from 12 until 3 p.m. at the Maclay Home.

Stagecoach rides will be given from the front of the Maclay Home from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., musical entertainment will be broadcast from the gazebo from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and the home will be open for 30-minute self-guided walk throughs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Old Presbyterian Church will be open, and a food stand will be located on the grounds.
