Tipton has long been known for the work ethic of its residents with several industries in its history. Tipton’s largest employers are the Tipton Correctional Center, Co-Mo Electric Cooperative, Tipton R-VI Schools and Kiowa Line Builders.
Moniteau County is a fine agricultural area with contrasting hills, bottoms and prairie lands. It is a heavy producer of wheat, corn and soybeans, and in addition to livestock and poultry farming area farmers see a diversified income. Tipton is situated in the center of this great agriculture area.
