Tipton has long been known for the work ethic of its residents with several industries in its history. The Tipton Chamber of Commerce, the Tipton City Council, the Industrial Development Authority and the Moniteau Regional Economic Development Council are happy to assist new businesses and industries looking to locate in the area.

Tipton’s largest employers are the Tipton Correctional Center, Co-Mo Electric Cooperative, Tipton R-VI Schools and Kiowa Line Builders.

Moniteau County is a fine agricultural area with contrasting hills, bottoms and prairie lands. It is a heavy producer of wheat, corn and soybeans, and in addition to livestock and poultry farming area farmers see a diversified income. Tipton is situated in the center of this great agriculture area.
